An Historic Event

Today two astonishing things happened. (It’s odd how things tend to happen all at once; I can go for weeks or months without a single really exciting thing happening, and then two of ’em happen on the same day).

First, I’m delighted to announce that I’ve just been formally invited to be a guest at the Melbourne and Gold Coast SupaNova conventions this year, and I’ve accepted both invitations. As you can see from the website both conventions are in April, which is very good timing since The Shadowed Throne will be released in Australia in that month. I’m very excited; I love going to conventions. It’s one of my favourite things to do. So if you’re going to be at either of those, or at the Adeladie ComicCon in March, be sure to come by and say hello! Don’t be shy; I’m harmless. I know from experience that I can’t even intimidate six-year-old kids.

Today also marks an historic occasion for me: about seven years after releasing my first novel, I got my first ever fan letter. Don’t get me wrong – I’ve had fan emails and comments on my website. But this was an actual letter, sent to me in the post, and it came from France, of all places. I’m so pleased and proud I’m giving serious thought to framing it.  It’s beautifully hand-written, too.
