Did I ever mention that my father is a journalist? Well, he is. He has his own radio program, on which he has interviewed some very prestigious guests, and he writes a regular newspaper column. He also, at the moment, is busy organising a discussion panel for Science Week. He’s a science enthusiast, and puts… {read more}
To celebrate finishing book thirteen, I treated myself to a little weekend getaway in Sydney – where it rained almost nonstop. I did, however, discover a fantastic cider and rum bar in Manly, and took the opportunity to catch up with my friend Kylie Chan as well – and told her something that made her… {read more}
Kids don’t have amazing imaginations. Having worked in an after school care program for about six years, I of course learned quite a bit about children – and not just how to supervise them (it’s almost impossible). A common myth about kids is that they’re imaginative. Yep, when you’re a kid it’s all magical fairies… {read more}
Today I adopted a second rat to be Puzzle’s cagemate. He’s also a male, of course, and where Puzzle is a teenager by rat standards, the new guy is just a baby. Today I finished book twelve, The Serpent’s Bite, which is the final installment of the Eastern Horizon trilogy, aka trilogy number four. I finished it in about two and a half months, which is pretty good by my standards. It clocked in at 120, 618 words and 208 pages, though of course that might change… {read more}
So April is over, and the cons are done with, and I can finally rest – and do some writing again, which is just as well, because the substantive edit for The Shadow’s Heart is due back this month. Three cons. Two Supanovas, and a Conflux/Natcon to follow. How do I sum it all up?… {read more}
So the Adelaide ComicCon is now over, and I’m home recuperating. And I can now happily say that I’ve been to every Australian capital city at least once – and I admit that’s actually why I chose to go to the Adelaide ComicCon; because I’d never been to Adelaide before. I had a really good… {read more}
As a quick glance at the menu bar will show, I have just added a new page to the site which provides a handy-dandy list of all my upcoming public appearances. It should make things a bit easier for people. I have not had a very good day. My shiny new laptop turned out to… {read more}
